Chemo Day Round 2...

Thank you everyone for the prayers that Stew's white blood cell count and platelet count would be at a place where they could proceed with the chemo as planned. They were!! Miraculous how the numbers could change so much in a day and a half. No doubt the steroids helped some, but the Father's answered prayer is what truly made the difference.

The cancer clinic is where Stew goes for the vel-cade chemo  injections, but it was our first time there for the chemo treatment. They gave us a mini tour, introduced us to the staff, and were very welcoming. The chemo infusion took 6 hours, but Stew was a trooper and even took a nap. (See below) As kind as they were, we did have a mini celebration when it was over with a stop at Smoothie King.

No side effects except for night sweats, and an increase in that overall fatigued feeling and need to sleep. Both are manageable, and he is handling them as graciously as always.

Please continue praying...Tuesday will be Day 4 injection and we will see Dr. K. again for another check of his stomach and spleen. If they are both still swollen and enlarged, more tests will be required. We are praying that all is well and would appreciate your agreement.

Including a link to a beautiful song being sung by Amanda Cook titled Heroes. Amy, our daughter, shared it with her dad during a quiet time of worship and prayer at her house. She thought it fit him. I do, too!

Thanking God for you as always, and rejoicing in the Father's love and faithfulness displayed by His mighty power and through you!

Friends came in from out of state to visit with
us, pray, and simply be here.

    1. Kristine, thank you!! Stew had his chemo injection done today, as planned. But, because of other things, the exam and meeting with the dr. about the spleen and stomach won't be until Friday afternoon when he has the next injection. More time to wage warfare! Thank you for sharing what you did about Amy.

  4. Standing in the gap and praying for God's divine intervention my dear friends. We know God is able and that our test of faith in patience is at hand. But we also know with God...All things are possible! Its such a dejavue experience seeing the pictures of Uncle Gary, when it takes me back 9 years ago when I had the same pictures taken. It's a whole other ballgame when you're sitting on the receiving end. I know it can be tiring Uncle Gary, but you're doing what your body is telling you what to do when you rest at home a lot. It's the best medicine...resting and hydrating (lots and lots of water). Love to you both...my prayers for you are a way of life these days, and I just want to give the Father praise for all that He is doing and will do. Amen!

    1. Dee, I know you understand, having battled cancer yourself. Stew says thank you for the advice. You confirmed what they told him on Friday:-) He really has been trying to drink lots of water. Cried at the phrase "my prayers for you are a way of life these days." Means so very much... we don't know what to say. Praising the Father. Love, Us.

  5. Its Monday...the sun is out... the birds are chirping...fall is in the air...the cycle continues...My prayer this morning just as nature begins to hibernate, Gary continues to pull from the living water that our blessed Messiah promised...and may the resurrection power flow through his being.

As leaves fall to the ground and die this sickness will wither and die as well.......Close your eyes and invasion the first robin scouring around. Or looking up and seeing buds on trees...the sound of water running from a thawing frozen remnants of winter..I am anxiously anticipate newness of life.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. faith. Hebrews 11:13
